CADET PROGRAMME

2011 has been a very successful and effective year for the V.Ships Cadet Programme in Ukraine: 100 ex V.Ships’ cadets joined Company managed fleets as junior officers during the year. More than 500 Ukrainian cadets were provided with seagoing training onboard V.Ships manned ships. In Jan 2012 V.Ships Ukraine took part in process of assigning 6th year cadets of the Odessa National Maritime Academy by selecting 64 graduates to join V.Ships as officers in 2012. Of those 73 graduates, 21 have already sailed as junior officers with V.Ships. As we all know, a successful cadet programme contributes positively to vessel performance. Clients have expressed their satisfaction with the high standards and qualification of Ukrainian cadets. Their support has been expressed in facilitating career growth and providing further employment opportunities in junior officer within the very fleets that such cadets obtained their sea time.

V.Ships Ukraine currently has 220 cadet berths and interacts closely with various maritime training institutions across Ukraine: the Odessa National Maritime Academy and its Branches in Izmail and Mariupol, two colleges “Marinesco” & Technical Fleet in Odessa, Maritime University, Maritime Institute in Kherson & two maritime institutions in Sevastopol, Kiev State Academy of Water Transport. Today, V.Ships is the premier Company in Ukraine, training and a tangible career path after graduation.

Established in Odessa in 1991, V.Ships Ukraine was the first recruiting agency that commenced cooperating with the Maritime Academy. Some ex-V.Ships cadets are already Masters and Chief Engineers – a testimony to the long term commitment by V.Ships to career development and providing excellent opportunities such as Careers for Life.

The growth of V.Ships continues rapidly with the acquisition of new vessels into management. Our robust cadet programme factors in the need for more cadets to help sustain such growth so that the objective of providing high quality seafarers is met.

V.Ships not only employs cadets but takes an active part sponsoring Ukrainian maritime education initiatives. V.Ships provided two BTM simulators one in 2007 and the second one in 2011, GMDSS simulator in 2008 and computer equipment for the Maritime Academy. Additionally computer equipment for other maritime institutes and colleges has been provided to maritime training institutions with whom, V.Ships Ukraine have enjoyed a long and close professional relationship.
